Our story goes back to 1906, when we entered the Kanjivaram silk saree industry with just a few looms. This eventually snowballed into a network of over 1000 master weavers-crème dela crème of the handloom society. Decades of research has gone into our looms and patterns of weaving, which have gotten more intricate and delicate with time:
According to our CEO, Mr Sreenivas Varadan, “The art of weaving is the foundation of the economy that makes up Kanjivaram. The quality of it has been strengthened over many generations and we should do everything in our capacity to encourage it”
While our designs are strongly rooted in tradition, over the years we have adopted a mix of contemporary styles to accommodate changing trends and desires. Our goal is to make saris that fit any and all occasion, ranging from bridal, casual, work, party wear or even for a stroll at the park on a hot summers day.:
We opened our first retail store in Chennai, Pondy Bazaar in 1985 by the name of Shreenivas Silks and Sarees. Our arrival was greeted by an overwhelming response of a large number of people who found our designs unique and our quality more than satisfactory.
Our portfolio now includes Kanjivaram silk sarees, Banarasi kora silks, Rajkot patola, unique soft silks and light weight silks among many others.
By having our roots in manufacturing, we ensure that customers find unique designs in our stores at an excellent price point. Due to popular demand, we have also started our own ecommerce stores by the name of www.shreenivassilks.com & www.ShreeVastra.com. For domestic customers, shipping is free with additional options such as COD. For international customers, we offer a very minimal rate for shipping. "
